Due to an illness outbreak, both Gilchrist Junior/Senior High School and Gilchrist Elementary School will be closed Wednesday, Oct. 30 through Friday, Nov. 1, 2024. Our district nurse has recommended the closure to allow time for students and staff to recover and deep cleanings to occur in both buildings. All after-school activities and events are canceled during this time. The schools are scheduled to reopen on Monday, Nov. 4, 2024.

Any family wishing to send their student for the first time to a school that is not their “home school” must fill out a transfer admission form.
Your home school can be found by typing in your address on our school boundary map.
Even if you have other children on approved transfers from years prior, you need to submit a new transfer admission form for any new student you wish to attend a school, other than your home school.
For example, if you have a third-grader already on an approved transfer and you have another child starting kindergarten, you need to submit a transfer admission request for your kindergartner since they do not have an approved transfer on file.

Where do I turn in the transfer admission form?
Please mail, drop off, email, or fax your transfer request form to District Office secretary Samantha Haney. Her contact information is listed below.
Transfer admission requests will be date and time stamped when they are submitted. This will be one factor we consider when we begin processing them.
When will I find out if my transfer is approved?
Due to increasing growth in housing in KCSD neighborhoods, we need to manage class size by processing transfers late in the summer and after school begins. To avoid overcrowding, it is critical for us to know class sizes with all of the students who live within the school’s boundaries before we approve transfers.
Transfers will be processed on a school-by-school and class-by-class basis based on available seats.
