Automotive Technology Program Course Offerings:
Automotive Technology I (Grades 9-12 | 0.5 Credit)
Start your journey with an introduction to the automotive world. Learn the basics of engine theory, automotive systems, and workshop safety. This course covers the fundamentals of car mechanics, engine operations, and familiarizes you with the tools and processes used in the industry.
Automotive Light Maintenance & Repair (Grades 9-12 | 0.5 Credit)
Build on the skills learned in Automotive Technology I by exploring more advanced repair techniques. This course introduces essential service procedures like oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and more. Safety protocols are emphasized, preparing you for real-world repair environments.
Automotive Technology II (Grades 10-12 | 1.0 Credit | Prerequisite: Auto Tech I)
Dive deeper into automotive technology with a focus on one-cylinder gasoline engines. Students will conduct hands-on projects such as engine overhauls and perform detailed diagnostics. This course enhances your understanding of the core systems that make vehicles run, from engines to electrical systems.
Automotive Technology III & IV (Grades 11-12 | 1.0 Credit | Prerequisite: Auto Tech II)
This advanced two-year course prepares you for the automotive industry by covering engines, powertrains, and chassis systems in depth. You’ll work with industry-standard tools and equipment, learning how to diagnose, repair, and service complex automotive systems. Students also learn the ins and outs of automotive service shop operations, including filling out repair orders and calculating labor costs.
