Curriculum Order Guidelines
At Great Basin Homeschool Center, we make sure to provide you with excellent curriculum choices to educate your child(ren). Below are the following options for ordering curriculum:
-
Customizing your own curriculum -
- Approved Curriculum List- Please refer to the approved curriculum list and make one choice from each category per child. You will place those into an established “WISH LIST” on Rainbowresource.com. You will then email that wish list to Laurie for approval and ordering.
-
Complete Curriculum Packages
- BookShark- You will need to go through Laurie to place this order.
- Timberdoodle- Email Laurie with the secular grade level package you want. If you need to change one of the core items to a different level to suit your child’s needs please let us know.
- Moving Beyond the Page- Choose the age level that you want and email that request to Laurie. You may also add a math program to this order.
***When ordering a full curriculum you may choose to order it without the math that comes with it and select a different math off of our approved curriculum list.***
We place full curriculum orders for each child registered at Great Basin Homeschool center at any time during the first semester. Between the beginning of the second semester and spring break we will order an abbreviated curriculum for new students registering. After spring break there will be no new orders placed.
Stipend Order- You have $275 per child to spend on additional items to support the curriculum. This is intended for science kits, subject interventions, library builders, skill builder workbooks or an additional core subject curriculum item. We purchase from the following companies: Rainbow Resource, Evan-Moor, Excellence in Writing, Singapore, or Math-U-See. **Please see below what to avoid when placing this order. If we have to cut things from your order because they do not fit in our guidelines, you will not have a second chance to redo your order. Your stipend order needs to be placed in its own wish list and not combined with your other order if you are choosing to customize your curriculum. You have 6 weeks from receiving your main curriculum to put your stipend order in. That way if there is something that is not working for you or is the wrong level you may want to use your stipend to replace it.
Orders will need to be emailed to Laurie at: edmondsl@kcsd.k12.or.us
***When placing a Rainbow Resource order you will need to send Laurie your email and password associated with your RR account, and she will log in and print off your order.***
Important note: You will only have one opportunity to order. Make sure you have ordered your full curriculum and it is at the level that you need. Also, make sure you have used your entire stipend when placing that order. Returning families have the option of pre-ordering in the spring for the following year or in September. New families will order when they register in the fall.
At this time, we are not collecting items that we have purchased for you- we ask that you offer up unused and used curriculum items to the other members of our homeschool group. The best way to do this is on our Facebook page under our school name. That is also a great place to ask other parents if you are looking for something for your child at any time during the school year.
**GBHC does not fund school supplies such as paper, pencils, folders, etc. Also, no equipment, games, toys or material with religious content. We do not fund art, music or foreign languages. We only support our district’s adopted core curriculum content. If the kit that you want to purchase looks like a toy or builds a toy it will not be purchased.
Per Klamath County School District Board Policy IIA, we may only purchase “….instructional materials free of racial, national origin, religious, disability, age, marital status, sexual bias or sexual orientation; contain appropriate reading ability levels; support the district’s adopted curriculum content; provide ease of teacher use; be attractive and durable and be purchased at a reasonable cost.”
