Business services team earns award for ninth year in a row
Dec. 12, 2023 / For the ninth year in a row, the Klamath County School District has received a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the U.S. and Canada for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. An impartial committee spent six months reviewing the district’s financial report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2022. The comprehensive report replaces a standard audit.
Janet Melsness currently directs the district’s Business Services team.
“The successful completion of the Fiscal Year 2022 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report is attributed to the group efforts of several individuals deserving of special recognition,” she said. “The cooperation, contributions, and expertise provided by each one is greatly appreciated. I commend our accounting staff for their expertise and perpetual efforts put forth in the research, analysis, and compilation of this report.
Accounting staff included Dennis Clague, former director of Business Services, Denise Reid, district accountant, Aubreanna Powers, payroll supervisor, Lana Loney, business information system specialist, along with Hali Lindgren, Dena Hadwick, Robin Huntsman, Chenoua Snyder, and Mindy Hogan.
KCSD Superintendent Glen Szymoniak said earning the CAFR award represents the district’s determination to maintain public trust by demonstrating outstanding fiduciary responsibility in managing public funds.
“Achieving this level of stewardship is a mark of excellence for our business office and its leadership,” he said.
