Students attend national convention, earn state awards
Nov. 12, 2022 / Lost River, Mazama, Henley, and Bonanza FFA students represented their schools and communities well this year competing in district, state, and national contests.
Sixteen students from Lost River, three students from Mazama and one student from Henley attended the 95th FFA National Convention and Expo in Indianapolis in late October, earning degrees and awards. Here’s a wrap up of our FFA students’ national and state achievements:
State Soils CDE
Lost River hosted the state FFA Soils CDE on Oct. 17 in Merrill at Basin Fertilizer and Chemical. Attending were 96 competitors and 27 teams from 17 FFA chapters across Oregon. Thank you to Basin Fertilizer and Chemical for your help!
• The Bonanza chapter placed first at districts and second and fourth at state. Bonanza’s advanced team placed second at state. Members are Ellie Huffman, Julie Hess, Ashten Helms, Abby Armstrong, Allen Hill, and Mary Schooler. The beginning team placed fourth. Members are Rebekah Rodgers, Tucker Mockridge, Grace Kness, John Nordin, and Marcus Brown.
