Keyboarding

Students learn "touch typing" using two different keyboarding instructional programs.

These activities prepare them for the keyboarding class they should take in high school so they can finish projects quickly and accurately.

Computer Education

Students in this class have successfully completed Keyboarding and are ready to improve their skills. A different keyboarding program is used that has students typing more "real world" kinds of things while they work on fingering and start to improve accuracy and speed. A few other topics may be covered as time permits.

Computers Advanced

Those students who complete Computer Education in the 7th grade and demonstrated outstanding keyboarding skills may be registered in Computers Advanced. This class reinforces the keyboarding skills gained in the 7th grade and takes it further, covering the numbers as well. Students who do well with this may be invited to take a more advanced class in high school where they can earn college credit. After keyboarding students will be introduced to desktop publishing, spreadsheets and charts.
