Social Studies

Global Studies
Grade: 7th & 8th        Credit: 1.0     Prerequisites: None Required

This is a survey course in early world history and geography: it begins with the first civilizations and ends with the Middle Ages.  It will be taken once, as either a seventh or eighth grader.

US History
Grade: 7th & 8th        Credit: 1.0     Prerequisites: None Required

This is a survey course in early US history, starting with the Constitution and ending at the Civil War.  It will be taken once, as either a seventh or eighth grader. NOTE: This course is not being taught this year.

Global Studies
Grade: 10th     Credit: 1.0     Prerequisites: None Required

This is a survey course in modern world history and geography, beginning with the 1800s and ending with the current era.  Students will also have the opportunity to learn in depth about one country around the world.

US History
Grade: 11th     Credit: 1.0     Prerequisites: None Required*

This is a survey course in modern US history, starting with the Reconstruction era and ending with the current era.

Government
Grade: 12th     Credit: 0.5     Prerequisites: None Required

This is an introduction to government and politics.  It will cover topics ranging from foundations of  American government to political behavior to the three branches of the federal government.

Economics
Grade: 12th     Credit: 0.5     Prerequisites: None Required

This is an introduction to economics.  It will cover the basics of both microeconomics and macroeconomics in addition to crucial topics of financial literacy.

*AP US History may be taken in place of US History - II.
