Pick Up and Drop Off Procedures:

It is important that you do not drop your students off before 7:45 in the morning. We do not offer supervision before this time. Do NOT drop off students before that time.

During drop-off time it is important that you enter the main driveway and turn to the right to access our student drop off area. Pull all the way up to the drop off attendant; they are there to assist your child in safely entering the playground area.  Do not turn left into the front bus lane drop off area. This area is open to buses ONLY from 7:45-8:15. Using this area causes congestion for our busses and is not a safe practice for students. The staff parking area along Crest Street, is also NOT a pick up or drop-off area

When picking up students at dismissal, please wait on the playground blacktop area. This will allow teachers to ensure students are getting on the correct bus and released safely to family members.

Regular attendance is vital for success in school. Please notify our office if your child will be absent due to illness, family emergency or an unavoidable appointment by sending a note in advance or calling us at 541-883-5063. We encourage families to make appointments outside of school hours whenever possible. In the interest of student safety, office staff will call the parents of any student who is absent without an excuse. Attendance calls are typically made by 10:00 AM daily. You can help by informing us in advance of absences and being sure we have current contact information.

School District Nurse:

We do not have a nurse on school premises at all times. Our school district nurse makes regular stops at Stearns. If you have a concern about your child and want to speak to the nurse, phone the office at 541-883-5063 to be placed on her contact list. Thanks!

School Closures and Early Dismissal Plans:

Occasionally weather conditions or other emergencies require us to take some special action regarding school closures and early dismissal.  The following is our plan to let you know when school will not be held as regularly scheduled.
If we find it necessary to close school in the morning, announcements will be made over the radio and television stations listed below after 6:00 AM.  We advise you to listen to your local stations in the mornings and/or visit our district website where a message will be posted.
If it is necessary to dismiss school early due to bad weather or other emergencies, announcements will be made on the same radio and television stations periodically throughout the day and posted on our district website as soon as a decision is made.
Our first line of communication will be through the One Call Now system.  Please make sure that the school(s) your student(s) attend have your current contact information in the system.
Please do not telephone the stations, the school, or the school district office.  Arrangements have been made with the stations to broadcast the information to you. Thank you for your help.
